The 2011 Watershed Report Card has been completed for the Stockport Creek Watershed. Click Here to view or download a copy of the report. The Report Card is also posted on our website at www.stockportwatershed.org. Hudson Basin River Watch, Inc., and members of the advisory committee for the Stockport Creek Watershed Alliance selected locations to assess water quality impacts at ten stream locations.
Overall findings show improvement in water quality compared to the 2006 assessment. Site K8 on the Kinderhook Creek in the Town of Lebanon exhibited the highest score of this assessment (Hanky Mull Hill Road bridge).
The lowest score in 2006 was at the Stony Kill just below High Bridge Road (Station 19091), one-half mile below the Chatham waste water treatment facility. Improvement was shown in this assessment, but still registered in the “slightly impacted” category.
The lowest score in 2011 was on the Claverack Creek (Station 19095) located approximately 400 meters above the County Route 22 bridge (West Ghent Road) in Stockport.
In general, sites with a Biological Assessment Profile (BAP) score below 7.5 usually warrant further investigation. For a copy of the complete Field Data Summary, or for questions about data interpretation, please contact Fran Martino at (518) 828-1330, or by e-mail at fran@stockportwatershed.org

“This is a Prince variation that I have been fishing recently. While I love the original Prince, I also love to work with different materials and see if the work as good or better than the original. This pattern, so far, has worked just as well. Try them in red and chartreuse for an attractor and caddis color.” - Juan Ramirez

A typical day at Trout Waters starts with optional fishing at Hale Eddy followed by a hearty breakfast at 8 am. Students attend classes and break for lunch. In the afternoon, students will spend their time learning about habitat and the ecosystem on the river. Dinner will be served at 5pm followed by time to fly-fish somewhere on the West Branch of the Delaware River. Lights out at 11pm. This is an intense week of learning and flyfishing that is sure to last a life time. Check out their website here:

Don't Raid Our Clean-Energy Funds!
Our State Director, Ron Urban, recommends we all educate ourselves on the ongoing struggle regarding NYS Budget and the environment.
Rather that directing 100% of the dollars that were raised for clean-energy initiatives, Governor David Paterson wants to rob the carbon-auction fund to subsidize other programs in the state budget.
TU National is asking for our support in calling our representatives regarding the Frac Act. The FRAC Act would remove the Safe Drinking Water Act exemption given to the oil and gas industry in 2005. Click Here to learn more.

John Miller is a former member and past president of Columbia-Greene Chapter of TU. He left the area several years ago to pursue a career as a guide. He is licensed in both New York and Michigan and has spent many hours in both states in that capacity. Along with this new career John developed a serious interest in photography, began purchasing commercial photography equipment, and focused primarily on trout food, mostly mayflies in various stages of development. He graciously donated several of his photos to our annual banquet last year and they were purchased by attendees. John is increasingly receiving public recognition for his stunning photos. Click on the link below which will bring you to a new magazine devoted to photographs and movies about fishing, then navigate to the section about him which also displays some of his work.
